  • Most of the Boat People were women, children, and babies. I told Ion to send Nick Sinkevitch, the Second Mate, and a couple of other crewmen, down into the boat to help the women and children up the ladder.
  • We discussed the problem of housing and feeding these people for the rest of the passage to Singapore. We decided to house them in Dry Storeroom No. 7. This area was originally intended to be passenger space.
  • During the boarding, asked the Deck Cadet to make a photographic record of the boarding. There were also several unofficial photographers among the crew (see photos).
