Story of PB 780

I was one of the boat people who stayed at the island in the 80’s; I was 16 year old. Below is my boat information
  • Boat number: Pb700
  • Number of people: 60
  • Arriving to Pulau Bidong Island October 1982

Took 10 days from Vung Tau to Malaysia with no food and drink.

Finally we got a hold of Malaysian Boat, they gave us food and directed us to Bidong

I went with my uncle, aunt and 4 cousins. Our family stayed on the island for 3 months, three and three months in Sungai Besi camp near Kuala Lumpur and six months in Philippines. Our refugees application were granted and we destined for USA. We have lived in California ever since. I myself have returned to visit Vietnam 3 times.
I want to visit Bidong in near future
