Story of AG 2509

Boat #: AG2509

People: 63 people, including 2 unaccompanied minors (a boy - about 13-14 years old; & a girl - 13 years old....That was me!)

Left Can-Tho sometimes during late October 1980.

We spent 5 days and 4 nights on the ocean. I remembered overhearing people say that we were aiming for Malaysia. Our engine died after a few days and the boat was leaking. We finally came to one of the oil platform in the middle of the 4th night. The people there radioed a German ship. The ship came & took us to Kuku island. I stayed on Kuku for about 3 weeks before being transferred to Galang Refugee Camp. I'm not sure how many people from our boat went to Galang the same time I did. However, I remember seeing the majority of them in Galang.

I have a few pictures. I will look for them & send them to you soon.
