I was a student but no future for me because my father was a 7th infantry division and my uncle was an A-37 bomber pilot in Phu Cat Airport base. That was the main reason I escaped from Vietnam communist to Thailand by boat in January 1981.
I spent about 18 months in multiple refugees camps are Laem Sing camp and Panat Nikhom camp in Thailand and Bataan camp in Philippines.
I settled in Mooresville, North Caroline, US on July 27, 1982. My first priority is education like so many Vietnamese refugees in US and around the world. I learned a new language and new trade, and then earned a BSEE from California State University, Fresno.
I’m now working 24 years for IBM and Hitachi a Western Digital company.
